There is a powerful life force within us that flows from seven wheels of energy, known as the chakra. These seven energy centers spin to keep our life force flowing, each affecting different parts of our bodies, minds and spirits. When the chakras are balanced and spinning in harmony, we feel at our best. However, it is not uncommon for our chakras to spin too fast or too slow, making us feel physically and emotionally unwell.

We can restore balance to our chakras and improve our well-being if we get to know what each energy center affects and how it can be revved up or calmed down. Today, we’re looking at the sixth chakra, the Third Eye Chakra.

Located between the eyebrows, the Third Eye Chakra is responsible for our intuition, imagination, thought and intellect. Its Sanskrit name, Ajna, translates to ‘authority’ or ‘perception’.  

IS YOUR THIRD EYE CHAKRA BALANCED?

A balanced Third Eye Chakra brings clarity, insight and wisdom. You’re self-aware, calm, and intuitive. You treat yourself and others with understanding and make decisions with ease. 

When this chakra is out of balance, your mind becomes clouded. An underactive Third Eye Chakra can make you lazy and passive. You retreat within yourself, stuck in a daydream. If the chakra is overactive, it can cause aggressiveness, arrogance and cynicism, leaving you narrow-minded and judgemental.

HOW TO BALANCE YOUR THIRD EYE CHAKRA

Get some sun. The Third Eye Chakra needs light to stay clear. Natural sunlight is best but if weather won’t allow it, try a therapy lamp.

Record your dreams. Your unconscious mind is linked to your Third Eye Chakra. Look into your dreams to better understand your inner self. Keep a notepad and pen near your bed so you can jot down your dreams when you wake-up. 

Practice mindfulness. Dreams aren’t the only way to get in touch with ourselves. Meditation, breathing exercises, and even a quiet walk in nature can help you calm the mind and stay in the present.

Use crystals. To help balance your Third Eye Chakra, get some sapphire, amethyst, lapis lazuli or kyanite. Hold your crystal during mediation or carry it on yourself.
