Relationship counsellor is someone who offers advice and guidance to couples, married or otherwise, or encourages the client to find answers to the problems themselves. The counsellor can operate as an intermediary in an attempt to reconcile differences between two people, or to improve generally the prospects in the relationship. The term 'relationship counsellor' is often used generically to describe a wide range of quite distinct specialisations within the area of counselling. Broadly, it is used to describe somebody who speaks to couples or individual in an attempt to repair or better their relationship.Thats me.
I have been working in busy private practice as a therapist, counsellor, couple counsellor and clinical supervisor for a number of years. I have a broad spectrum of experience with a variety of "problems in living", too many to list. I am the Placement Co-ordinator , a low cost counselling service. I oversee the intake of trainee counsellors there, and supervise trainees from many different modalities, individually and in groups. In addition to working in private practice seeing clients for short and long term work, I have experience of seeing patients in a GP setting and have been involved with charities which support parents and families; women who have suffered different types of abuse as well as working at a hospice supporting patients and their families.
